Galilee Center of Mecca will once again offer a backpack giveaway distribution to provide support to community children as they embark on a new school year. Through generous grants from BIGHORN Golf Club, the Cultivating Inland Empire Latino Opportunity (CIELO Fund), and numerous private donors, at-risk young people will receive much-needed school
supplies.
Claudia Castorena, Co-Founder of Galilee Center, is thankful to further support the education of at-risk children in the neighboring communities. “With the support of grants from BIGHORN Golf Club, CIELO Fund, and donors from around the Valley, we can reach out to young people with the supplies they need to start their school year off right, and show we believe in them. We are here for them.”
The backpacks will be filled with grade-appropriate materials, including notebooks, paper,
pencils, pens, crayons, scissors, glue sticks, folders, highlighters, and more. Ms. Castorena continued, “The giveaway helped so many children and their families last year, we are excited that we can assist with this distribution once again.”
There is a call for volunteers to help fill the backpacks on August 9th, the day before the distribution, from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm. Please call Galilee Center at 760-396-9100 if you can donate your time.
Backpack Drive Dates & Important Information:
To receive a Backpack, you must present School ID, or Report Card or School Registration at the time of event.
Children do not need to be present to receive a backpack.
