Galilee Center Reaches Fundraising Goal with Donation From Coachella Valley Wellness Foundation

March 16, 2022

Mecca, CA (March 2022) – Galilee Center is excited to announce that it has successfully reached its 2 Million dollar capital campaign goal to fund a campus expansion project with a final $50,000 donation from Coachella Valley Wellness Foundation.

In late 2021, Galilee Center embarked on a capital campaign to raise funding to add a 6, 000 square foot expansion to its Emergency Shelter to address increased service needs. The anticipated shelter expansion will allow Galilee Center to, almost, double its emergency housing capacity as well as continue to host humanitarian efforts in a sustained mission to support the essential needs of the working poor and migrant families in the East Coachella Valley.

Patty Newman, Board Chair, Coachella Valley Wellness Foundation asserts, “We are most pleased to be able to complete the funding for the expansion of the Galilee Center’s Emergency Shelter as part of our vital mission to support wellness for all those in our valley communities.”

We are very thankful for patrons such as Coachella Valley Wellness Foundation and all who have committed to helping us see this project come to fruition. It is so important to be able to offer dignity, safety and well-being to the working poor, immigrants and farming families who gather here and we are excited to embark on this next phase of service. We have been blessed beyond our expectations.”
