Galilee Center of Mecca is excited to announce the completion of their 6,000 sq. ft. Our Lady of Guadalupe Shelter Expansion. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing, tour of the expansion facilities, food, fellowship and celebration of this long-awaited goal.
The media is invited to attend and share this special event with Galilee Center, local leaders, supporters, and community members on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11 a.m.
The Blessing will be held by Most Reverend Bishop Alberto Rojas of Diocese San Bernardino. 4th District County of Riverside Supervisor V. Manuel Perez will also attend.
“Galilee Center is thrilled to present our beautiful new center that will further expand our community support efforts in the coming years. We offer thanks and gratitude to our generous donors and friends who contributed to the $2 million goal required to take us where we are today. We are blessed to have their support, and of Riverside County that contributed 1.5 million. A special thank you also goes out to our major donors, Connie and Bob Lurie, and to Hal Tilbury,” said Co-Founder, Claudia Castorena.
Co-Founder Gloria Gomez added: “With the additional space and new facilities, we will now be able to offer more outreach programs, increase capacity, and provide a wider range of services to those in need. A wonderful milestone has been reached.” The 6,000 sq. sq. ft. expansion includes double capacity for housing from 75 to 150 beds with separate, secure and private accommodations for men and women, and a remodeled kitchen to serve clients more efficiently.
“The expansion will now allow the community room to be used for special event gatherings, meetings and dining—currently, it was supplying extra space for needed housing,” explained Ms. Gomez.
